Favorite writers, SF and Fantasy:

My ABC's of reading included more than Asimov, Bradbury and Clarke in elementary school. I hid under the bed to read the scary parts of Tolkien at age 9. Later I discovered Andre Norton, Anne McCaffrey, Terry Brooks, Alan Dean Foster. Still later, I enjoyed my first funny sf book and really love the puns and satire in Piers Anthony's Xanth, Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide series, and Terry Pratchett's Discworld. SF and Fantasy can be adventures, comedies, mysteries, romances, you name it, just as well or better than their earthbound counterparts.

I love reading so much I would never have suspected I'd love writing even more. This page is dedicated to those who inspired me in the past, as well as those I'm currently reading. I will add links as I find time. It's not a matter of competition. Writers who inspire readers to want to read aren't competition, they're appetizers.

Create your own free website.

Setting up a website was far easier than I thought, and free. I searched a while before I found a host this user friendly. I don't know one bit of html and don't need to with Weebly's easy cut and paste format. Weebly doesn't bug me to upgrade to their pro features, but if and when I need them, their prices are reasonable. I recommend their service. You can click the link from any of my other pages, or use the one below.

Author Links: Write right

Piers Anthony (Pier Xanth-ony): http://www.hipiers.com/index.shtml First on my list because he uses a pen name for the pun of it. Visit his site for more than his books. He lists publishing scams.
Orson Scott Card:http://www.hatrack.com/ Had me hooked at Ender's Game. Now a professor of English at Southern Virginia University. Free writing lessons and workshop available on his website.
Andre Norton: http://www.andre-norton.org/ Her first sf books were written as Andrew North. I enjoyed both her fantasy and sf. You will too.
Anne McCaffrey:http://pernhome.com/aim/ Another female pioneer of sf. If you haven't read her Pern series, do. Follow the thread; don't touch it.
Rick Riordan: http://www.rickriordan.com/ Author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, highly entertaining, plus he gives good writing advi
Tommie Lyn: http://www.tommielyn.com/ A local author and expert on self-publishing who knows how to do it right.
Suzanne Collins:http://www.suzannecollinsbooks.com/ Although the end book of the Hunger Games trilogy had a few things that seemed out of character to the heroine, I couldn't put any of the books down. Must reads.
Dierdre Eden-Coppel:http://www.knightess.com/She's a great illustrator who started the whole kindle craze--almost. Even though someone beat her to that punch, you can't beat her talent as an illustrator. She even does e-books. As an emerging author, she has a helpful blog for other writers including agent interviews. Follow the link from her website.
